Artist's Description

Dating to the Victorian era, when flowers adorned clothing, stationery, wallpaper, hats, china and jewelry, the hibiscus means "delicate beauty," relating to the sunny and delicate conditions under which it will bloom and to the fragility and beauty of its flower. Today, "delicate beauty" is the common meaning of the hibiscus when used in flower arrangements or given as a gift. In North America it is commonly known as the "rose of Sharon" and symbolizes the "perfect bride": fruitful, of beauty and one with God.

About Tim Abeln

Tim Abeln

Hi and welcome to my gallery! My name is Tim and I am a self-taught photographer from Arnhem, the Netherlands. The enthousiasm for photography was inspired by my mother. With her camera (and a few tips from her photography friends) I just went out and started making photos. I watched tons of YouTube videos, read articles and book, talked to other photographers and that is what I continu doing, learning something new with every shot. Pretty soon I found that I started seeing the world in a different way, started noticing things I never noticed before. Lights, shadows, compositions, colors, animals in the forest, majestic landscapes and the tiniest detail in beautiful flowers. The love for photography is not in pressing a shutter...
